I was lucky enough this month to be able to go out on dates with both of my boys for their birthdays. I have been trying to do that with each of the kids on their birthdays so that it is just a special day with mom. Bubba wanted to go to a jazz game for his date, so I got tickets for us back in february when they were running one of their specials. It just so happened that all the drama with the Jazz happened just a couple of weeks before we were suppose to go, and of course Bubba had gotten a D-will jersey for Christmas, so he wasn't too excited about wearing it, so he borrowed Jentry's really old Kirelenko jersey and off we went. We had dinner at Olive Garden, where they made a big deal about him since he was still supporting the Jazz by having his jersey on, and he told them how we were going to the game for his birthday, so they brought him out a free cheesecake and sang to him for his birthday and for not giving up on the jazz. So of course he is thinking the whole time that he needs a new jersey so we get to the ESA and he wants to go into the fanzz store and check them out, but just outside of the store was a kiosk that was selling genuine jerseys, but you could personalize them and i thought well it will be to expensive, but it was the same price as the regular jersey's with the players' names on it, so he picked his own number and had his name put on the jersey (they can't trade him) and now he has his own genuine jersey with his number and name! A few weeks later I was able to take Austin out for his birthday date. Anyone who knows Austin, knows of his love for volleyball! So we figured it would be fun to go catch a BYU men's volleyball game. Austin also chose Olive Garden for his dinner out also, although they weren't as friendly as the one in Sandy had been, so no free cheesecake or singing, even though I told them it was his birthday :( We were able to do a little shopping and get him some badly needed new church pants and then went to the game. We had a great time watching the game, they are so fun to watch and I think it was really good for Austin to get to see how the men play. I loved these outings one on one with the boys, and the good times and great conversations that we had and look forward to being able to continue doing it each year!
