Austin's Volleyball Tournament

So it's not just the girls in the family that like volleyball! Austin has really grown to love the sport, and so when they offered a middle school clinic and tournament, he jumped all over it! I really wish they offered it here as a real competetive school sport, he absolutely loves the game! And he is pretty darn good at it too!

Holiday Magic

So I know it's been forever since I blogged, man life has just been crazy! Missed a few things but oh well, starting fresh from now, hopefully I will be able to keep up! We had some really fun times during the Christmas season, so I thought I would share those. This year we went to Richfield for The forgotten Carols, and although Shy and I had seen it before it was the first time for Austin, Jentry, Shelby & Bubba, needless to say they asked if we could make this a yearly tradition. I wasn't sure how they would react, but they all absolutely LOVED it, they all commented on how much they felt the spirit, and want to make sure we do it again! This year I wanted to make sure that we made it up to temple square as well, so after Austin's volleyball tournament we headed up north, I decided it would be fun to go ice skating, all of the kids except Bubba have been ice skating before, but we have never done it as a family so I thought that might be something fun to do, so we went ice skating for a couple of hours, Bubba didn't like it to well at first because he fell so much, but by the time we left he was getting the hang of it and wants to go back. After skating we jumped in the van grabbed a pizza and headed to Salt Lake to temple square, it was absoulutely beautiful! Very Crowded and cold but so worth it to go and see and we got some great pics as well! Hopefully I will be able to get some Christmas pics on here in the next day or two.

STATE VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONS 2009-10

Dreams really do come true! As a parent there isn't a better moment when you see the hard work, dedication & determination of your child pay off and did it pay off big! 6 years ago our group of 8 seniors set a goal that they would be State Champions their senior year, knowing it would be Halloween night and for 6 six years they have said when asked what are you being for Halloween their repsonse was always state champs! Well that dream became a reality saturday night as our Lady Hawks won the state championship beating the #1 ranked team in the state. Most had counted us out never even thinking we would make it to the championship round, in fact alot of people didn't think we would make it through the first day, but our girls came into the tournament a new team from what we had seen all season long, they were determined, played as a team, and fought hard to achieve their goal! The championship game went 5 games with the final game being won 15-13 so it was a nail biter! Shyanne played the games of her life at state and I am so proud to say she was chosen to the all-tournament team! What a way to end your senior year Shy!!!

Shy's last homecoming & Senior Volleyball night

I can't believe that this has come so fast already! I did really good however keeping my emotions in tact, which totally surprised me. I knew that this year would be a year of milestones and lasts but hopefully memories that will linger for years to come. Shy has rode in her last homecoming parade, and played her last volleyball game at North Sanpete High School. She was honored with the other 7 seniors last tuesday night in front of their home crowd. She also earned an award for All Region Academic so I couldn't be more proud of her!!! She finished the night off with the lead in kills for her team and a win in region!

Back to School....Priceless!!!

High School Registration & fee's $340.00
Middle School Registration & fee's $ 72.00
School Clothes for 5 kids $$$$$$ way to much to list

First day back to School......PRICELESS!!!

It's that time of year again that mom's look forward to and kids dread! This year at school marks a couple of milestones for us! It's the last first day of high school for senior Shyanne, and the first day of middle school for Austin. Where does the time go? The kids had a great time shopping and getting ready for school, but only Shelby was glad to see it actually come, although Bubba was pretty excited getting ready this morning, he had to make sure he had his colonge on "for the girls" (yeah I'm in big trouble with this one when he gets old enough to date!) Anyways here's some pics of the dreaded great day!

Shyanne the big bad SENIOR

Austin ready for the big jump to middle school
(he was so nervous, it was cute)

Jentry is all ready for 5th grade and soccer games at recess

Shelby is in 4th grade and excited to go

Bubba ready "for the girls" in 3rd grade

Hair today gone tomorrow

In getting ready for back to school the girls decided they wanted new do's. Shelby always wants her hair short because she is so tender headed and hates to have snarls. Jentry loves to grow hers out and donate it, so she has been waiting for it to be long enough to do it again, but still have enough left for ponytails! This is the 4th time Jentry has cut and donated her hair to locks of love. So here's the results!

Shy's International Volleyball Award

As most of you know Shyanne had a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Italy this summer to play volleyball. She had a great time, wonderful experiences and made some great new friends. She also showed her coaches and the Italian coaches what a great volleyball player she is! After playing for 4 days in a International tournament, she was selected to play on the USA all-star team against Italy's all-star team, and then was also voted by the coaches out of nearly 100 USA girls as the "Outstanding Outside Hitter! " I am so proud of her and her accomplishments! We are so grateful to all of you you helped sponsor her in any way to be able to have this opportunity!

Summer Staycation

So it's been awhile since I have posted, sorry about that, it's been hard finding time to keep up with it all. I really wanted to be able to take the kids on a real vacation this summer, but financially it just didn't happen, so we decided to do a "staycation" and try to have a little bit of fun. We started friday and spent a half day doing some school shopping. Now for those of you who have 5 kids to have to school shop for you know where I am coming from. LOL But we did survive a few hours and got most of the kids fitted for shoes and that out of the way, not to mention a date for Shy while we were at it. We then headed back home and to the lake for a few hours of boating with the fam! Thanks Tom & Jen for carting us around in the boat! Saturday morning we got up and ready and headed back to provo and did some more school shopping and then made our way to Salt Lake where we went to the Joseph Smith movie. None of us had been and needless to say it was an amazing thing for us to do as a family and to strentghen our testimonies of the Prophet. We then spent some time walking around Temple Square and went on a tour of the Conference Center. After that we went to the Mayan to eat , none of us had been there before, and although it was a different atmosphere, I don't think its something we will do again. We went to the zoo, I realized that some of my younger kids have never even been to the zoo since they were little babies, so I figured it was about time that we went to the zoo, and then we made a stop at the "This is the place monument." We then finished up school shopping at the Gateway Mall and the younger kids played in the "shooting water" they had had enough of shopping, (I didn't get any pics of them playing in the water dang it) and by the time we got back to them they didn't want to get back in the cold water. But all in all we had a fun weekend and experienced some things that we hadn't before.

SOFTBALL STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!!

After 3 long hot days our Mt. Pleasant Bee's are the STATE CHAMPIONS!!! The girls played their hearts out and are very deserving of the title. They started Monday off with their first win placing them in the winners bracket and not having to play again until the next day. Tuesday they played 2 more games winning both of them and the reality of taking state set in. Wednesday found them playing their first game at 3 against a Spanish Fork team and although it was a close game our girls lost their first game of the entire season 5-4. At that point they had to play right after and beat that team to put them into the championship game against the same Spanish Fork team, however in order to win state they would have to beat them twice! And they did just that the first game their was no time limit so it was extremely long but our girls won 7-5. So began the final game for the championship it was already a little after 8 pm and since the fields we were playing on are not able to use the lights at night they put a time limit on this game. We scored the first 2 runs and went into the last inning with the lead. Of course at this point when your the mom of the pitcher things begin to get a little intense. Jentry had been pitching great all day and now faced her last inning with the state championship on the line. We quickly got the 1st out and the crowd was really excited. Jentry then stuggled with a couple of batters and before we knew it had 2 runners on base by walks. She then struck out the next batter for the 2nd out. Its crunch time! She walked 2 more batters and that meant the other team scoring 1 run, and with bases loaded. You could see the pressure getting to her and the crowd, and we wondered if the coaches would maybe put in another pitcher, but they called a time out and went and talked to her for a minute and the next batter she struck out giving our girls the win 2-1!!! Our girls played over 6 hours straight that day, and their hard work and determination payed off. I am so proud of Jentry!!! She did such a great job! The night ended with a police & fire truck escort through town at 11 pm with the girls reinging on top of the fire truck cheering and screaming and lots of towns people out on main street cheering them on!
